Does Automatic or Scheduled Backup provide some notification of completion or failure?

Hi,

I am setting up automatic backups on my PCs.  I could not find a setting to enable notifications for backups.  Are there notification options (that work)?

Thanks!

Hi C

     Welcome. Certainly you'll get a notification at the bottom right corner when the backup starts and you'll get another one when it ends. Upon completion of the backup you can see an icon(backup.png) next to the files which are successfully backed up. You'll get a blue icon(backup2.png) with arrows next to a file which is being backed at that instance.  You can also check the Status of previous backup instances in the Norton Security History under Tasks (select Backup in the drop-down).

Thanks, SUBASH_PRABU!

On one of my PCs, I want to know without having to check - I want that STATIC popup that I have to click to clear it, or email in my inbox, with some details - like

Backup completed - files backed up, total files backed up, space used, space available

Backup failed - {reason}

Backup started, completed date/times

I find the current (V. 5.2.0.13) version's results a bit cryptic.

BTW - My version of Norton 360 is Comcast's "Norton Security Suite" and I'm waiting for version 6 to show up.  Will the Backup change much?

Thanks!

Hi

   According to my knowledge there is no such feature available in the Norton Backup feature (Sending email reports about the Backup)....It might be a good product suggestion for the future. And i'm not too sure what features will be available in the Norton Security SuiteV6. As i already said you can check the time stamp of the backup instances, Failed/succeeded instances, What files were backed up,etc you can find all these in the Norton Security history under the Backup option. An example below.

     And one more thing eventhough if we provide an option to receive emails with the Backup reports, if the backup fails due to lack of Internet then sending an email to the email address is not gonna workout(as you'll not be able to check the email). The Details you're in need of are available in the computer itself.

I would be happy if a static (not popup and time delay, then disappear) dialogue would appear with some status of the automated backup.

Mine just ran - I set it for 11 AM every day - successfully, but I had to (a) remember to check it, (b) go through several menus/clicks to check it.

Appreciate your replies!
