Does my iPad need security?

Hi:

I was wondering if Symantec (Norton) has a solution for this or is it just not a problem?

Thanks.

A lot depends on how you define Security.  There are definitely areas that should be cause for concern.  Browser hijacks and phishing attacks are definitely possible on the iPad.  Malware is also possible for jailbroken iPads/iPhones/iPods as well.  Currently we do not have a Security product to offer for the iPad, but we are definitely working with Apple to be able to provide security for those with these devices.  I would continue to check back for any announced product for the iPad/iPhone/iPod.  Hopefully I've answered your question.

Hi erik_carlstrom:

What can I do to secure my iPad 2 in the meantime?

How far away is a Symantec security product for this device?

Thanks,

Hi Atomic_Blast

To help you on your first question you might like to look at another thread in this forum -

As for when Norton\Symantec will come out with a product for Apple - you must realise that he can't tell you that even if he knew - it would be commercially sensitive.  As soon as they can - is about the best you can reasonably hope for.

I hope that helps.
