No need to set separately for virus scan in Norton 360. When you run a Comprehensive scan/Quick Scan, Norton 360 will automatically check all files and folders in your Internal drives(My Computer). When you install any type of Internal drive, Norton 360 will automatically detect it and run scan. When you finish running the Virus & Spyware check , you can view the detailed results - how many files/folders scanned, threats detected, items removed/fixed etc.
Yes, it should scan the external drives if you have them switched on and it will be similar to the USB drive plugged into your computer. When you run the scan, it will scan all drive available in “My Computer”. Otherwise, you can also run a custom scan only in the external drive by right-click on the external drive in My computer and select Scan with Norton 360.
I have a couple external 1TB drives with various backups that I don’t want scanned, but I don’t see how to exclude them from scans.
It’s one thing to manually select and scan (or even backup) but I really only want my internal drives with systems (3) and data drive (1) scanned or protected or included.
If you use Norton 360 2.0, you can add exclusion for the extrenal drive to Autoprotect and Risk scan:
1. Start Norton 360. 2. Click Settings. 3. Click Virus & Spyware Protection. 4. Click the File Exclusions tab. 5. Under Which disks, folders or files to exclude from risk scanning, click New. 6. Select the external disk drive you would like to exclude and click OK. 7. Under Which disks, folders or files to exclude from Auto-Protect scanning, click New. 8. Select the external disk drive you would like to exclude and click OK. 9. Click Close.
This is a problem for me when I have NAS drives connected to all three computers on my network. They get quite a workout as N360 scans them all. The program should provice some way to limit the drives that are scanned to prevent the repititous tasks.
