So, I have had Norton software on both desktops as well as laptops over the last 10 years, hence the product always worked well no glitches (user friendly).
Recent events have caused me to wonder...
Prior to my annual Norton subscription (renew) deadline...I renewed CC information and thereafter had 365 plus days until next renewal.
So, to my surprise weeks later my Norton History (firewall) indicated that I had authorized the installation of Norton on my laptop (it was already THERE I simply extended my subscription...new Norton desktop icon (short cut) as well as Norton Install folder on start up page.
The new Norton pop-up/interface tells me installed on 2 devices, yet I only have one laptop (its been like this for years).
Bottom of Norton Interface/Consol under "Subscription Status" always read Active in green...now Active is underlined and in blue.
"Run Smart Scan" (rectangular) used to be on the left side (under Screen Monitor Green Checkmark)...now on the right side and oval.
More disturbing...
Laptop - Control Panel - Programs - (lists)
Norton Security (Publisher NortonLifeLockInc) (Installed On 9/3/2022) (Size ) (Version )
NO MB? Good Lord! How can it say nothing under size (in MBs)? And, yet ALL other programs listed in Control Panel have specific number of MB!
Some software products alert you that there is a newer version available "Click Here." I did not CLICK on anything...
Even weirder Norton (firewall) History says I authorized Google Installer (which I did not...already installed on my laptop for a long time).
Now, in addition, to the 2 google icons (short cut) on my start up page...I now have a third google icon.
Laptop - Contro Panel - Programs - (lists)
Google Chrome (Installed On 9/4/2022) (Publisher Google LLC) (Size 88.3 MB) (Version 105.0.5195.102)
Like I said I'm used to being prompted there is a newer version available "Click Here." I DID NOT click on anything!
I am also aware that some products require up-to-date information (such as security software latest Virus/Malware definitions), yet that happens via auto-update (and does not entail AN ENTIRE NEW PRODUCT VERSION).
So, can someone make sense out of this info? And please respond with a post, please?
