Anybody see any performance improvements after installing Norton Utilities?
I hate the idea of touching the registry but currently NIS+Norton Utilities is CHEAPER than NIS alone

But I wonder why the NIS alone is more expensive than with Utilities :/
But is there any performance improvement? Furthermore, doesn't Utilities simply use Windows Disk Defragmenter instead of bundling their own?
It's just a promotional deal. That is the only reason that it is cheaper.

If you do decide to buy the bundle -- and it makes sense if it gives you a cheap NIS 2012 -- PLEASE don't use the Norton Utilities on that nice new computer you have since it does not need helping and anything that you do to it with Norton Utilities is more likely to harm it than help it.
There are some useful things in Norton Utilities but you don't need them on a brand new machine.
I certainly agree with Hugh in case of a Brand New machine, mike. But i do experienced a bit of performance improvement in several Old machines. But Some features surely needs Expert Guidance (U/A)
I wonder why Norton put such risky tools in the hand of novice. I usually avoid registry cleaners by a mile. I still have a few more days left on my subscription and will wait until the price of the 2012 drop. And even if you buy the bundled version, you don’t have to install the utilities part right?
Knives are dangerous ..... if you don't know what they are for and use them ...
So to are utilities on complex systems like Windows. But they can solve problems if they are well designed and used by someone who knows enough to know whether to say yes or no ....
But also many of the things these utilities do are already built into Windows but may not be as easy to access.
I'm not aginst Norton Utilities just against using things without knowing enough about them, almost to not need them!
