Hi Calls,

Your screenshots are not visible yet.

I don't think any of us regular users can address what the error actually was, since the error codes mean as much to us as they do to you.  However, you are showing a green check in the Norton system tray icon, so that means all is well and functioning properly.  Again, Norton has ways to inform the user if something is seriously amiss - such as a RED X in the system tray.  The entries in the Norton Security History are informational and do not require user action.  I'm sure though that someone from Symantec will respond if your screenshots do indicate something that you should be concerned about.  In the meantime, you can always click the Support link and run the Auto-fix tool to have your program checked out for problems.

On my screen shots, I can't seem to read the images. They are too small and blurry. How do I make them larger?

Hi Calls,

The current size you have posted is the maximum permitted by the forum layout. The information is readable on my laptop with a resolution of 1440 x 900.

And if necessary, we can check the full size image in your gallery.

These are not messages intended for the users, but for Symantec technicians to streamline the product in the future. They do not mean anything is compromised, especially not when the severity is "Low".

Follow the instructions here in point one (1) on how to capture the active window. This will solve your screenshot clarity problem.

I remember that I had a qiestion before about the entries that show up in Security History under

Symantec error Reporting

I think what scares me about this one is that it involves navw32.exe

isn't that the guts of NIS 2010? I mean isn't navw32.exe what keeps the whole security going?

So an error to that functioning could be a danger, eh?

Also, should navw32.exe be shoing in task manager under under the process tab all the time?

It is not on my showing as such on my system. But NIS is showing as running under the services tab.

Hi Calls,

Navw32.exe is the file that launches the manual scan.  It should not be running all the time.  Ccsvchst.exe is the main Norton process that needs to be running at all times (in two instances) in Task Manager.

As has already been discussed, the error occurred when launching a virus scan of the system. This issue shouldn't occur, but did. The code is prepared to handle the situation, though, and went on to perform the scan in a different way.

Cool, and thanks

1. So it was just a "hiccup" in the functioning of a manual scan (which I had run a little before this error message) and the "hiccup" took care of iyself?

it seems that manual quick scans, idle quick scans, and scheduled full system scans all seem to work fine

2. This "error" DOES NOT mean my NIS 2010 is compromised or not functioning correctly, in regard to my computer being protected?

3. There is NOTHING I need to do regarding this error and I DO NOT need to reinstall NIS 2010?

You are correct in all regards.
