I have a laptop with a dual boot system with half of the hard drive allotted for Windows 7, the other half for Mandriva Linux. The Mandriva Linux is using the ext2 partition as far as I know. If not it's ext3 but I believe it's ext2 and I have a linux swap partition. According to the Norton Ghost 15 documentation these Linux partitions are supported by Ghost.
My question is about the best way to back up the system. It seems to be set up for a default backup but the default backup only sees the Windows side of the computer, the C drive to be exact. It doesn't see the Linux side. If I'm right this is the best type of backup to do though to allow it to create a restore point to then in an emergency use the CD that came with Norton Ghost to do a repair/restore.
There is another option available as far as I can tell to completely copy the hard drive. Would that option including the Linux partitions that are on the hard drive? Would it be as easy to restore the hard drive or files using that option though?
I'm just trying to figure out the program but want to know the best way to do a backup of the hard drive that would include the Linux and Windows 7 sides and also would allow me to restore the hard drive if my hard drive crashed or even if necessary files that are lost.
Thank you for your help.
