DON'T want the Firefox toolbar. How to remove it?

NIS 2010 basically acts like malware, forcing me to use a toolbar in Firefox that I really don't want to use.  Previously, you could disable both Firefox extensions, but now, if you disable them, they are automatically enabled EVERY TIME you load Firefox.

Could someone please:

a) Tell me how to permanently disable the NIS/Norton 360 Firefox extensions.

b) Recommend to Norton that they not do this, as it just upsets users and detracts from an otherwise solid program.

In responding to this message, please do not tell me, "why would you want to disable it anyway?"  I'm 100% set on getting rid of it, or getting rid of NIS 2010 itself if I cannot.
