I downloaded a file, moved it to my desktop, clicked on it, and got the message from Download Insight:
This file is widely trusted by the Norton Community. It is safe to install.
BUT - nevertheless, I could not install it. Other than getting thes message, NOTHING happened when I clicked on the file.
I re-downloaded it. Nothing. I disabled Insight and re-downloaded it. STILL got the plesant message and the file wolud not run.
I looked on this community for an answer - I saw that the problem was supposedly 'solved', but for the life of me, I could not find a solution.
Then I had a hunch. I moved the latest download back to the Downloads directory and tried to run it, AND IT RAN! Okay, this is a workaround, but hardly a solution.
I can only surmise that from now on, every file I download can only be run from the file it was originally downloaded to - is that right? If so, this is totally unacceptable. If not - then why is Insight Download preventing me from run a downloaded file from somewhere else?
