Downloaded Norton antivirus

OK, I downloaded Norton Internet Security, it ran ok, then I had a power surge, and I had a cheap surge protector; so my hard drive got fried.  I replaced the hard drive, recovered the Operating System, but not the Norton internet security. My current Norton program has 485 days remaining on it, and it was installed on the computer with the fried hard drive, my laptop, and my daughter's computer.  since there are 3 computers that the program was installed on, I can't just re-install the program.   How can I contact Norton/Symantec and get the norton internet security re-installed on my desktop.  All these have Windows Vista.

Thanks

Alchemist

Hello Alchemy and welcome!

You can reinstall your NIS and if you encounter an issue with the activation, contact Customer Support via Instant Chat at this link.

They are very good at resolving this type of issue.

Best Wishes.

Alchemy,

The subject of your message says Norton Antivirus but in the message you say Norton Internet Security -- which is that you need to get?

New NIS 2010: Click on this link NIS 2010

New NAV 2010: Click on this link NAV 2010

These are full install packages and will work for 7 days without activation. They can be activated with the key for your previous installation. Do you have that? If not it should be in your Norton account that you should be able to access from the link in your new installation.

If all that fails then contact Norton Customer Support as Phil says:

To contact customer support Click on this link and work on from there.

You can choose CHAT or Email; phone may have a long wait time and feedback from users tells us that CHAT is by far the best at resolving problems.

Note that that link is to the USA/CAN website so if you are located elsewhere I'm sure you will be able to find the equivalent location on your local Symantec website; some pages have a link at the top right where you can select the country you are located in.

Please note that at the moment we are not sure whether those downloadable versions are the very latest upgrade to 2010 or not so check the Version ID under Help About -- it should be 17.1.0.19 at least that is correct for NIS. If it is not after you have installed it then run Live Update manually until you get a Restart message and do that to complete the upgrade.

Hi Alchemist,

There won't be any problem with license when reinstalling NIS in your computer after replacing the harddisk. You may need to contact Customer Services only if you face any problem with installation/activation. You can use the links given above for downloading the Norton program again and use the same Product Key from your Norton Account.

One of the gurus has just found that the versions at those two links are now the latest but do still check your Help / About since the posting of the update may vary in timing in different regions.

Ok, I contacted Symantec and they responded within 24 hours; they e-mailed me the links and the product code  to re-install the Norton Internet Secuity program, and they even gave me an extra 30 days.  The program is now installed and I am up and running - they have very good customer suport.

Thank you all for the advise and support!

Alchemy.

Thanks for the feedback -- glad they sorted it out for you.

I hope you bought a UPS after your experience with power surges!

We live in the Lightning Capital of the World, they say, and I have them all over the place even recycling them down as I get a more powerful one as I add desktops and a laptiop here in my computer base! There's one on the TV/HiFi, one on the cordless phone base station and one on the old answering machine!

Hi alchemy
