I cannot remember when this started happening, but at least two months ago. I am currently running Norton 360 22.23.8.4.
When I download a file from the internet using Firefox, N360 opens a notification that the file is safe. The dialog used to open and then fade away. Now it opens and stays until I manually close it. This is annoying because it interrupts what I am doing to make me close it.
1. I do like seeing some kind of indication that N360 has checked the file. It does not need to be a notification. It could just be a system tray icon change showing that checking is happening.
2. I do not need to see a notification that the file is safe, if I know that it was checked. If the Windows notification has to be used to show the file being checked and safe then it should auto close like it used to.
3. A persistent pop-up when there is an issue with the file is good and I believe that is what happens now. This is not a Windows notification. I am happy with this part of the action.
i have noticed this also, could be my connection is unprotected type message, or when i turn vpn off box will linger for sometime, not all the time but every now and than
also noticed in new threads that norton opens itself, that has been a off and on thing for many also
fwiw ~ maybe, I've noticed similar Download Insight Notifications with downloads from Edge.
'Status update' pop-out remains for ~two minutes > pop-in > pop-out for ~15 seconds > pop-in
Maybe, until Norton gets 'Status update' timing adjusted to your preference.
Maybe, you'd be better served by Download Insight Notifications = Risks Only (gray)
fwiw ~ my preference:
Download Insight Notifications = On (green)
'Status update' pop-out to remain, until I close. Just me.
