Hi,
I would like to make a suggestion to improve Downloading and Dowload insight, when someone download a file or file(s) when surfing the web or open attachment(s) from an e-mail. Now, I'm not sure if anyone suggest this idea or a idea like this yet but if they did, I'm sorry.
Download Insight:
- Improve the Download Insight feature to scan more file types: * (some part of idea from lago's post)
I would like to see the Download Insight feature scan more files types like .rar, zips , .mp3, .mp4, .m4a, .m4v, .ogg, .mov, .jpg, .jpeg , .tar, .tar.gz, .DAT, .pdf, .txt, .Docx, .DOT, .DOTX, .Wpd, .svg, .POT, .PPS, .THMX, .html, .htm, .raw, .GIF, .BMP, .PNG, .PDN, .Tiff, .Tif, .swf, .wmv, .wav, .xml, .bin, .php, .usa, .jap, .eur, .asp, .aspx, .ppj, .MSWMM, and .WLMP be added to be scan for threats or alteast some of these file types.
- I would like to see this idea included in the next verison or release of N360, Norton Internet Security, and Norton AntiVirus
- This suggest would improve file scans for customers everywhere and would help protect customers more by being able to scan for and detect threats on more different file types. Also if the file (a customer downloads) is one these file types listed above and Download Insight finds something malicious. It would remove it from the customer's computer and the customer's computer would be safe.
- This suggestion added to the Download Insight would work the same as before but this time with more files like .rar, .POT, .DOT, .xml, .pdf, and etc.
* = List of file types (listed above) are found here
Downloading files through e-mail and/or web:
- Improve Downloading files scans through e-mail:
By scaning more file(s) and/or file types, users downloaded through the web or e-mail for virus or malware before it downloaded to the user's computer.
- I would like to see this idea included in the next verison or release of N360, Norton Internet Security, and Norton AntiVirus
- This suggest would improve downloading file scans for customers everywhere and would help protect customers more by being able to scan for and detect threats on files downloaded through e-mail before it on the user's computer. Also if the file (downloaded from an e-mail as an attachment) is found malicious or contain a virus. It would detect the threat on the file or files and prevent the file or files from being downloaded to the user's computer. Then protecting the user's computer from the bad file and making the user's computer safe.
- This suggestion added to any norton product would work by scaning files a user downloads from an e-mail or through the web by scanning the file or files first and then either 1) prevent the file or files from continuing to download to the user's computer if something bad is founded or 2) Continuing the download of the file or files to the user's computer, if nothing is founded within the file or files.
I hope this idea would help to better improve security and safety for notorn users and maybe consider as a improvement feature for future norton products.
Thank you
