Driver IRQL Not Less or Equal error upon install of 360 v4 with Windows7

I recently upgraded from Internet Security 2009 on my desktop which is still running Windows XP.  I downloaded the recent version directly from the Norton website.  Everything installed perfectly.  However when I did the same process on my Acer Aspire 5532 running Windows 7 Home Premium I received the Blue Screen of Death error "Driver IRQL NOT Less Or Equal" upon restart.  I am able to run a system restore in safe mode.  It seems as if Internet Security was not completely removed.  I tried running the Symantec Removal Tool and I get the same BSOD error.  I have also run a malware scan to rule that out.

Hi reiver

Welcome to the Norton Community Forums.

When you reboot, after the BSOD, have you tried selecting the option for Last Known Good Configuration? The error you are getting is frequently caused by drivers, memory or video issues.

The "Last Known Good Configuration" was not an avaliable option but I used the last Windows update restore point wich is only a few days old for me.  It restored fine without any issues.  Since then I have been diligent to create a restore point upon each step that I have taken.  I did run a scan for affected programs under the System Restore tool and it came up with Symantec (NetService) 04/30/2010 10.0.3.2 driver.

A friend pointed me in the right direction as to which driver it was causing the problem.  I updated my wireless network adapter driver and I was able to remove all Norton files using the Removal Tool and then re-installed 360 v4.

Hi Reiver

Good to see that you got things sorted:smileyhappy:
