Caveat: I do not run Norton Driver Updater

The larger issue is why running Norton Driver Updater on a modern OS? What is the benefit? None. These types of software are mostly snake oil to take your money. We recommend CAUTION, up to and including NOT using DU, for the exact reason you posted. Incorrect drivers getting installed and in some cases, leaving a device not bootable. Rely on Windows Updates and your OEM for driver updates. Microsoft and vendors work hand in hand to deliver those in a fast and safe manner.

Many thanks for your reply and I agree that caution should be used however I don’t receive OEM updates and have never seen ‘Windows Update’ update a driver. I tried to manually update a driver from windows device manager which I knew was out of date, but it informed me that it was up to date. The effort to manually go through my 200+ drivers is firstly subject to error and secondly too cumbersome. So, I rely on software such as this to keep my system secure and optimised. I am seriously looking for a replacement and Driver Easy seems to be a contender.

BTW you mention ‘we’ - ‘We recommend CAUTION’ are you replying in behalf of a group or organisation please?

Users across the forums recommendation. Specifically Guru’s. What CPU family is your device running? Device OEM?
