When I try to create a special recovery disk this is the error I get:

I was able to create backups to my USE2 drive 500GB untill i got the latest update.
I had the same problem i originaly had in that my CD disipeared and I had to use this file:
To restore the missing CD or DVD drive
On the Windows taskbar, click Start > Run.
In the Open box, type the following:
regedit
Click OK.
The Registry Editor opens.
Scroll to the top of the left pane and click My Computer to select it.
On the Edit menu, click Find.
In the "Find what" box, type the following:
GearAspiWDM
Click Find Next.
Each time an UpperFilters string is found that contains the "GearAspiWDM" value, right-
click the UpperFilters string, and then click Modify. Delete the "GearAspiWDM" value data,
leaving any other value data that is contained in the string.
If an UpperFilters string contains no other value than "GearAspiWDM," you can delete the entire string.
Click Find Next, and repeat step 8 until the string is no longer found.
Reboot the computer.
After rebooting the computer, your CD or DVD drive should be visible as normal.
When done the drive showed up again but could not use as backup becouse or error. Not a backup location.
Also could not backup to my external USB2 drive.
Got numerous errors like the one below.

Cant make special restore disk.
cant male copy's to DVD it always informs me that my DVD is read only and not a possible backup location.
When i first installed Ghost 14 my DVD was not visible. I had used this fix:

The drive is back but i still cant use it for backups!

I'm a bit confused; are you making a Custom Recovery Disk, are you using a DVD drive as your destination, or both? For the latter, the message you receive is correct; the DVDs you are using is an important factor in creating a backup to DVD.
For the latter, can you elaborate on what steps you are taking in this process? Do any errors occur? Ghost reports all warnings and errors to the Windows Event log. Could you look at the application event logs and check for any warnings/errors from Ghost, Ghost Service, V2i, Volume Shadow Copy Service, etc? Have you run LiveUpdate in Ghost until there are no more updates?
I apologize fo the many questions; they will help us determine the cause of the problem. Thanks!
