ED800012 Error on Restore from FAT 32 to NTFS with NG 15:

Help Please ... I have made regular backups from a Win XP NTFS Laptop to a Pogoplug mounted Seagate external drive (FAT 32 as I discovered) . I use NG 15 and have used NG, NG 10, NG 12 and now 15 - I use a series of 2Gig file chunks. Over time, I have frequently recovered the odd file or so after a mistake or two. It works.

My laptop died a horrible blue screen of death last week - some bad sectors ... But it happened just after the weekly full backup completed - Joy!

I decided to swap out the 320 Gig WD Hard disk in favour of a blank 500 Gig Toshiba and - following careful study of the forum - use the NG 15 SRD ISO download from here and create MBR and restore the lot - registry and all from the shiny backup.

No joy - I get a ED800012 Error once the restore starts. However, I can do endless file restores for individual or folders of files. Symantec Help could not (help) - no call back either.

I've tried copy with recovery point browser - no joy.

What I would like to know is - can I duck past the ED800012 Error - using NG 14 perhaps? ... and recover the disk image to a new disk - any tricks I'm missing.

If not, I'll have to build the disk from scratch, copy my user files etc and reload all the software - not what I had planned.

Thanks - Mike
