Email hackers for NORTON BILLING

Feb 8 2022,

I received not 1 but 2 emails this morning coming from 2 different GMAIL accounts to tell me that my Norton Full Protection package Account NUM  XXXXXXX is about to auto renewing for $249 and if I don't want auto renewal to call this number ......  There are no links in the email so there is nothing to click on but I did open one of them just to read it... Soooooooo  just letting folks know...   AND it came to my business email NOT used for my Norton account so there is no matchup there.  And they showed an Account Number that looked pretty good...

Fraudulent companies carry out technical support scams by posing as software support providers and claim to offer support on behalf of major technology companies. They set up fake websites, send scam emails, offer free security scans, or send alarming messages to convince you that your computer is infected or needs to be fixed.

There is no hacking going on here. It is just spamming. The type of email you received is just sent out to random email addresses, hoping they actually get a Norton user, and then also hoping the recipient is not as savvy as you are to recognise the scam. You will find many, many reports of these scams in the forums here.

And FYI, it is not just Norton getting scammed. I have received a number of similar McAfee emails and I have never had a McAfee product on my systems.
