Error #8504,106 during product upgrade

Hello,

 

    I'm new here, but I seem to be having the same problem.  I put Internet Security 2012 in a new HP laptop last summer with a 3 year subscription, so I had 760+ days remaining on it today when I got a  upgrade notice for 2013.

When I tried to upgrade it caused an error(#8504,106).  I've been trying all evening to get my Norton back.  So far no luck.  

 

Last thing I've done is to remove the old program completly, and replace it with a new download. But even that did not work.  So now I'm stuck.  My icons are all there, but they don't open.  However there is no icon in the system tray, when there should be. Also, when I did the downloads it said I was "protected", however I can't do a scan, or do a live update.  

 

I'm running Windows 7 on a 64b HP laptop.

Lippy, have you tried using the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool, downloadable from the Norton site ? This will give you a clean install, and may solve your problem.
