I changed from the NIS to 360. Ive had some issues here and there with NIS over the years but 360 takes the cake. I got it a month ago (basically when my NIS was expiring I moved to 360) .
Systems:
Windows 7 x64 SP1 (with all current updates) (on all computers)
NIS 2012 Uninstalled with Norton tool remover (made sure all old settings / old versions were deleted as well)
Installed Malewarebytes Free v1.70.0.1100 (all current updates)
Norton 360 v20.2.1.22 (all current updates)
Issues:
(this was today's issue)
Norton 360
20.2.1.22
Error: 8506, 421
Windows 7 Home Premium
7601.17944.amd64fre.win7sp1_gdr.120830-0333
Norton Autofix Results: 1 item(s)
Installation :: Success
I have also had to uninstall and reinstall it 2 times on a couple of them in the past couple weeks. Then today this on 4 of them, I seem to be spending more time fixing then using. Anyone know what's up?
I'm having this same issue. Norton eventually disappears from my taskbar and when I try to reopen it, it either simply doesn't respond, or the Autofix pops up and can't fix itself.

Here is what I copy and pasted from Norton's Auto-fix.
Norton 360 20.2.1.22 Error: 8506, 421 Windows 7 Home Premium 7601.17944.amd64fre.win7sp1_gdr.120830-0333 Norton Autofix Results: 1 item(s) Installation :: Success
All I did was simply lock the computer, and go to bed last night. Hopefully this isn't something that will keep happening, Because as of now, I can't open norton 360. I am going to re-boot and see if that fixes it. (shouldn't ever have to do that in the first place)
I think I might have been able to fix the problem, for me at least. I started to get this error when Norton 360 said I was able to upgrade to the newest version. After numerous reinstalls using Norton Removal tool I was still having the same issue. I tried Norton Power Eraser and it found absolutely nothing. What I DID do, was uninstall Norton 360 using Norton Removal Tool and when my computer restarted and prompted me to the download page, I ignored and closed it. Instead, I reinstalled it using my CD. I don't know if everyone purchased Norton physically or not, but it seems that the newer upgrade was the cause of the issue for me. Hope thos helps anyone else!
