Error 8506,421

Someone please help.Had NIS for the past 5 years and not a single problem,now out of the blue I get this error(8506,421).Done everything Norton says about uninstalling,rebooting,re-installing,nothing is working.Immediately after a re-install when I click explore nothing happens then the box pops up"Norton has encountered a problem".I'm using the same HP laptop with win 7 as always and i have no other security products running.Could this be a windows update issue?Any advise would be most welcome.Thanks Ivan
