ERROR 8506, 422 over and over, even after re-install

I'm at my wit's end with this problem. It seems my computer (Windows 7) is caught in an endless series of dischecks on startup. When I finally get it to start (by canceling the diskcheck), I get the error message from Norton (8506, 422). I downloaded the tool that uninstalls and re-installs the latest version, but when I started my computer this morning I got the error message once more, and was prompted to do the uninstall/re-install. I did it again, but am afraid that it will just happen all over again.

I don't know if the erroneous diskchecks are related to the problem with Norton or what (I say 'erroneous' because whenever I read the diagnostic report of the check, it says there were no errors found).

Does anybody have any suggestions on what to do about this? I'm completely at a loss...

Thanks!

give Windows 7 a chance to finish the endless series of disc checks on startup.

this can take 5 .... 10 min.

if you cancel the disc check, it starts again next time you switch on the pc.

It ran diskchecks over and over for about an hour and ten minutes before I ended it. That's why I cancel them now. I can't believe that's normal!??

Hi sliptip,

Normally if running the remove and reinstall Tool does not work, we recommend uninstalling via Programs & Features, running the Norton Removal Tool and then installing a fresh copy of your Norton product.

Thanks. I'll try that!

Great! Just did what you suggested, and all is well--finally. Thanks!!

So glad you got it sorted sliptip.

Me too. Thanks again!

Nothing has been solved. NAV is a virus.

This solution only yielded the Blue Screen of Death for me.

Lots of people are still complaining about the Error 8605,422 problem and no solutions are coming.

In the last week, the Norton-Symantec CEO has been fired and their cloud computing services went in the ditch.

Is the company still alive?
