OS – Windows XP Home Edition
Sony Vaio VGN-S150
We purchased the Norton Internet Security 2009 last month and after installation the computer was unstable. At first, Windows was starting up so I tried the following:
- I uninstalled the Norton Internet Security 2009 software but the computer was giving the same problem.
- I restored the OS to an earlier date but the computer was giving the same problem.
- I tried to run the recovery CDs but the computer was not responding.
The second day I was having the following message: “Windows has being shutdown because of software incompatibility….”, and then I got a black screen saying “Error loading operating system”. Windows did not start.
I just found that Norton Internet Security 2009 is compatible with Windows XP SP2, SP3 or higher. Unfortunately, I do no have any of those updates in my computer and I did not get any error message during the installation of the Norton Internet Security 2009 software indicating its incompatibility with my OS.
The thing is that now I have a black screen saying “Error loading operating system” and it is not responding to anything. It is unbelievable, this computer was working perfectly before this security installation. We definitely need to be more careful.
Any ideas, suggestions, …… about how to solve this mess?
