Error message (0x800CCC1A) after installation of NIS-2012

I installed Norton Internest Security 2012 last evening on my Toshiba laptop using Vista OS.  Installation ran well and I conducted a full virus scan without issues.

 

However, when I attempted to retrieve my e-mail from my local ISP using Outlook 2010, via a cable connection.  I received an error message -- "receiving error (0x800CCC1a), server does not support connection encryption type specified"  So of course, I get no mail.

 

I attempted to contact my ISP's technical support section and was told that since the only thing different (between yesterday & today) was the installation of the software, there must be some setting in the software that is causing the receiving error.  They suggested I examine the software to determine which setting needed to be adjusted and then "fix it."

 

Unfortunately, I do not have any where near the skills needed to dive into the program to get this resolved.  Is there anyone out there who can guide me through the process to fix this.  A few days without e-mail is not a deal breaker, but I would like to restore my connection with the world.
