Error message inside Norton Antivirus Software

Hello,

I installed Norton Antivirus. When the software is opened, there is a login prompt at the top right hand corner. When I try to login there, I get the error message "Check your internet connection and try again". My internet connection is working fine. I can connect without problems through my web browser. The purchased product key has been entered. I am definitely using the right login information. Not sure what is causing this error message. Has anyone seen this and found a solution? I tried uninstalling/reinstalling but the error message is still there. I'm running Windows 8 with Norton Antivirus 21.6.0.32.
