I have been trying to renew my 360 subscription but every time I go to the checkout page I see an internal error message which says contact administrator. Am I doing something wrong or is there aa problem with the renewal site?

Here's my boilerplate .....
To contact customer support Click on this link and work on from there. You may have to scroll down a little to see the CHAT button.
Feedback from users tells us that CHAT is by far the best at resolving problems.
Note that that link is to the USA/CAN website so if you are located elsewhere I'm sure you will be able to find the equivalent location on your local Symantec website; some pages have a link at the top right where you can select the country you are located in.
Please let us know how you get on ....
Here's a direct link to Live Chat. As others have noted, they are the most responsive route by all accounts here.
Thank you. I was in contact with two different support folks. The first one suddenly disconnected. I tried again and he tried to do remote, got in but the link to renewal failed. Both people wanted me to install Mozella. I told them that if Norton could not work with either of two versions of internet explorer, perhaps I should be getting a different antivirus program instead of renewing 360.

Welcome,
Sorry about the problem.
It looks like Mr. Murphy is at it again.
You mention two versions of IE, whih two? If we're talking about IE9 x32 and x64 not a problem.
I'm using IE9 x23 for most everything and have not run into any problems with downloads or activations. Haven't needed to renew lately so I can't confirm a problem there.
Yeah, Dick is right--it's definitely not a compatibility problem with Internet Explorer, since that's what most are using and without difficulty. When the support folks asked you to install Mozilla, it was probably just as a debugging strategy.
BTW, you might give the free version of malwarebytes a quick run. If it finds anything, copy-and-paste the results back here.
A few added comments about Malwarebytes free scanner. It is Norton compatible so keep it handy for a second opinion whenever you feel the need. Running it from safe mode will provide the best possible means of cleaning things. You usually avoid any roadblocks that the run of the mill 'nasties' install when they come to visit.
Let us know how it goes. The light's always on
Thank you all.
A live rep phoned today and the renewal for me.
Also I have downloaded Malwarebytes and ran it on the XP computer. It found several infected files but when the scan completed the computer froze. It wouldn't even take ctrl-alt-del. Had to do a hard restart. Since the renewal checkout is the only effect I have seen and I no longer need to do that I don't know if all is well.
Again thanks and I think this topic is closed.
Ernie
Glad to hear it is all sorted out now ....
I am somewhat concerned that you may have a rootkit, since the malwarebytes scan did pick up infections and then your computer froze. Did the freeze happen after the scan had reported complete, or just after it found those other infections? Some rootkits have tripwires that will shut you down if the scanner finds them. That would be consistent with your machine locking up during the scan, but less so if it only locked up after the scan had successfully completed.
I would suggest that you keep a close eye on things for a couple of weeks. Download and run a fresh malwarebytes (they can update it several times a day) today and tomorrow, and see if more nasties are found, and/or if you experience the freeze again. If so, please note what it finds (copy it down on paper if your computer is locked up and ypu can't copy & paste or get a screen shot) and post it here, so one of our malware experts can take a look at it. If it finds nothing, download and run another fresh version in a week or so and do the same. You don't want to go back to your normal routine, thinking all is well again, if you've got an active rootkit.
If Quads shows up in this thread and instructs you differently, do what he says. Exactly. He's a malware expert, and I am not.
Thank you for the heads up. I sved malware install when I downloaded it. Is it necessary to reinstall or can I run the app as is?
Best to reinstall: like I said, they do updates sometimes several times a day--and rootkits are among the most advanced threats out there so you'll want the latest & greatest in case new threats have been discovered in the meantime that the version available today is not aware of.
You don't need to reinstal MBM -- jut run the Update link on the Main Screen and it will tell you if there is a version uprade and it will update the definitions .......

Thanks, I did rerun and was able to delete the infected files.
I have one laptop to run it on yet but should be fine now.
Thank you all for helping.
I was misled by the wording of the error message on the Norton site and wouldn't have suspected trouble on this end without help from you all.
Ernie
Ernie,
I don't think you were misled; I think there is (and remains) a deeper problem that hasn't been detected. If a fresh run of malwarebytes detected malware again, then you have a more problematic nasty that is either reinstalling them after they're deleted, or perhaps even fooling the malware programs into thinking they were deleted when they're not.
I am not a malware expert, so I suggest you keep checking this thread for a response by Quads, who may have a better idea what is going on. In the meantime, let us know what viruses your scans have found, as that may offer some hints....
