How about trying to update your virus definitions using the intelligent updater to get you started? Goto this site:
It’s Norton Internet Security 2007 or 2008 I have. Those updates are not for this program.
Norton antivirus is part of Norton Internet Security. Did you try it?

After the download of the intelligent updater has been succesfully downloaded. Where does the file go?
Hi Dominique,
If you didn't specify a location when you downloaded the file, the file is saved to the default download location in your Web browser. This could be the Desktop, a folder called C:\Downloads, or some other location.
If you can't find the file, download it again by right-clicking on the link and then clicking "Save link as..." which will allow you to specify a location for the download.
Once you've downloaded the file, double-click it to update the definitions.
If you find that, in a day or two, you continue to see the LU9000 error, I recommend that you contact technical support so that we can troubleshoot more in-depth with you. You can start a free chat support session here.
"save link as" is not in the drop down list. It's "save target as". When I click on it this message appears:
internet exployer cannot download
no such interface supported
hi Dominique - oh, that's not good.... sounds like IE may have some corrupted files. if that is the case, this article from MS may help you resolve it.
hope that helps

first thing i would do is make sure your account is working right i.e. log in
should see any devices protected and or what program you have subscription for
just guessing here but would seem you got the download part done to install and it was at the sing in part and you see this?
if thats the case than may want to check account log in is all correct

Caveat: I do not run Brave browser.
Maybe, you're seeing similar to what I see from Edge.
Your connection to this site isn't secure...is from Edge - not from Norton.
