We are developing applications. So, files are frequently change (the name is the same but not the content). The firewall keep asking if we want to block these new files.
How can we avoid that and allow them automatically without deactivate the firewall? Is there a way to remove an entire folder and his subfolders from the firewall test?

The firewall and autoprotect greyed out is just because a Standard account user does not have access to these controls. Part of the non access to settings in the Norton products.

peterweb: bjm_, A standard user account is only able to access very few settings for the Norton products. The only thing a standard user can access is the background tasks in Administrator Settings, and Identity Safe in Identity Protection. All other settings are greyed out. This is for the main Norton Settings from the GUI.From the right click on the system tray, a standard user cannot disable the firewall or autoprotect.
EDIT
And there is no prompt to switch to an admin account to access the settings.

How does standard user know when restart is needed for remediation.
Meaning, I'll notice by contrast when Disable Auto-Protect is greyed-out.

You can use Norton Antivirus with Windows firewall.
If these are the only solutions about exclusion, then I guess it is not possible to fully protect our PC with Norton without being annoyed
Using traffic rules means that we allow all other applications to access to the network. And using program rules have the behaviour that I described (each time we compile a program, we have to manually allow access) : This is good for a general security but not for my "special" use

Neither Norton 360 Premier nor Norton Security have this option.
I'm now on Norton Security after reinstalling it. In Settings and Smart Firewall, there is no "Program Rules" section/title. In "Program Control" section, you have only control on a single application that must never change (as a reminder, this is not the case for my applications that are created each time)
