Rather than spending $50 on-line, I purchased a box version of the NIS 2012. When I went to renew, there was an option to enter a key if I had already purchased one, which I had. I had assumed it would extend my current license, which was to expire in 23 days, for another year. Instead, it's telling me I have 366 coverage left and my account shows two different subscriptions, one with 23 days and one with 366. Isn't the subscription system smart enough to not do this? Do I really need to wait until the expiration date of my subscription to type in the code?
Given where I am now, any way to fix this, or have I wasted part of my subscription? I'm more annoyed (as an IT professional) with the terrible interface/functionality than the 23 days.
Hello rdspear and welcome to the Community. Don't feel like you did anything wrong, I've read a lot of post from people that are confused by the renewal policy. From what I understand, if you renew on line, the program adds a year to your existing time. If you enter a new key code, its like starting a new program and the year is not added to your existing time, that is why you read a lot of these post that recommend waiting until you have a day or two left, to enter that new key code. Most people with a similar problem usually report back that when they contacted the Norton On-Line Chat and explain what happened, their accounts were fixed and their existing time was added to the new accounts time. Please come back and let us know if they were able to help.
