My current subscription expires in 2 weeks (currently running Norton 360 V5.1.0.29). I purchased a new Version 5.0 (CD 3 PC) from Costco. Rather than uninstall my current 360, and install the CD, can I just update the new keycode under "my account" and extend my subscription another year? Or do I have to uninstall the current, install the CD, update etc?

Hello Robjon, Welcome to the Norton Community.
I think your best option would be to wait until you have 1 or 2 days remaining, then just click renew at the bottom of the 360 screen and enter you new Activation Key. No need to install off the CD.
Would just like to know about a new rule that has come in saying that i am not allowed to extend my subscription past three years yet i have three product key numbers here that i want to add, it has never been an issue before.
I've never heard of anyone doing this -- I realize you do not mean to daisy chain the "3 PCs" from one copy -- but usually what people do is to hold the keys until needed.
I hope this does not mean they are going to take away the ability to do this. Where did you get the information please?

Are you trying to add these keys to a single subscription? How did you do this in the past? Usually if you add a new key to an existing subscription, you lose any remaining time.
My subscription covers three computers, i extended my subscription via chatting help through Norton support, i extended my subscription before xmas, i purchased three additional product keys not long ago and instead of having them packed away with the possibility of them getting mislaid somewere, it happens when you move house etc i normally just put them on my existing subscription, but this time when i went to Norton support the live chat agent said i could not do it as i already had more than three years on my subscription, i told him that i had done it before only a few months ago, he replied stating that it was a new ruling that had just been applied, why i do not know, i would rather just have them on my account than floating around the house in a box somewere, i mean what is the problem with extending your account with product keys that you have actually purchased from Norton?
Just to add to my reply the agent who told me that he could not extend my Subscription due to the new rule, could or would not tell me were i could view this new ruling for myself, i asked him several times but he changed the subject every time.
Probably, but the point was that he was firm on this new rule but could not direct me to were i could view it as it must have only just come in as i have 1646 days still left on my subscription and was at a loss as to why all of a sudden i could not extend it anymore, as i hadnt heard of a release of this new rule and to reiterate the chat operator could not tell me were to view same.
I've heard back from our contact at Norton who is checking up on the question of a limit.
I don't know if there is any obligation on businesses to point to "printed" rules -- many businesses have their own "codes of practice" which they disclose when situations crop up. But that's just an observation from an outsider -- we are all volunteer users here unless you see the user name in red ....
I am at a loss to this problem, if I purchase a subscription from Norton Antivirus surely it should say on the cover that I cannot add the subscription to an existing subscription that already has three years or more on it as what is the point of purchasing the subscription if I have to wait three years before I can extend it with another subscription.
As I have said this has never happened before, the matter that problems me is that I have contacted Norton several times over the past month and have had no answer to the questions regarding this matter.
I'm sorry that my contact has not come back with a reply but I know he referred it to the people who should know whether you were correctly advised or not. However he was off ill, I know, and is now abroad but I'll leave a chaser for him.
<< what is the point of purchasing the subscription if I have to wait three years before I can extend it with another subscription. >>
Plenty of people do this with single year subscriptions in order to lock in a low price since the licence does not start to time out, on present practice, until activated for the first time.
It's not unusual for it to be difficult to get answers from commercial firms on matters that affect their competitive position and I'm not aware of any moral or legal obligation on them to give such information.
But I hope we can get some information. You have checked your private mail?
