somebody in this forum said very, very smartly that - if the download is about 130MB or 140MB, its the problem in our side, that means, something in our program codes are screwed up and needs the fresh start.
Pls for God's sake, if you do not know anything just stay quiet.
I have been using norton symantec for almost 5 yrs for now, subscribed. So, I know what happens. But, don't give that wrong information - pls......
Now, to the topic.....since yesterday, there was a problem downloading the updates or what ever, I noticed that around 9pm ET US. The file size were about 145MB. And then it download at the rate of some kb.....snail speed. This morning after turning the pc, it went bleezing speed about 117MB. It completed the download and then , it said, failed to update....something in symantec's coding system got screwed up...... So, pls fix this.....its still Updated Failed - 2 red X marks....
I am also experiencing the same problem and I know "not" to call customer support.
The positive: The confidence of safety that Norton products have provided me for at least 10 years is unsurpassed. I also do manual updates, especially each morning.
This morning, after setting NIS to block network traffic for 14 hours, I attempted three manual updates and received "Failed to Update." In the past when this occurred, I was patient and eventually all goes well after a couple of hours since I know how quickly Norton responds to internal issues. I haven't noticed any correlation between the size of the download and the "failed" message, but will do so.
I am running the latest NIS version 21.1.0.18 on Windows XP SP3.
As stated many times on these forums, and problems with Live Update are generally resolved quickly. When you consider how many Norton loaded computers there are world wide, it's a miracle it works at all....Just be patient. You're still protected.
