I have norton 2010,

I am trying to install the game with the norton deactivated

well if I can play with it activated, the problem will be solved

if not, I'll reply here later.

Yeah, the game appears in the quarantine but if I repair it

the norton remove it again

Hi samuca69,

I can tell you how to have the file ignored but I am reluctant to do that until I know more about the file in question. I certainly would not want to have you ignore a file which might really be a problem or some sort of malware.

You said you have Norton 2010. What does this mean? Do you have NIS 2010, Norton Anti Virus 2010 or what?

Please provide the filename and the name of the game which is being quarantined. I hope you are not disabling your AV software to play this game as this is VERY risky and leaves you completely without protection.

Thanks

Allen

Hi samuca69,

Thanks for the update. I would consider this file as somewhat suspect based on some research I have done on this. I highly suggest that you submit this file to Symantec for further analysis. If they come back with a clean bill of health on the file then at least you will know for sure. In the meantime, not being able to play the game for a while is a small price to pay for the piece of mind of having this file analyzed.

Further if Symantec analysis does indicate this file is clean then they would update their virus definitions accordingly. At that time we can also help you to put this file in the NAV exclusion list in the interim.

If you believe the file is a false positive please submit it to Symantec here.

If you believe the file might be infected then please submit it here for further analysis.

You can also do an analysis online here.

Just to make sure that no problems exist on your computer I would recommend two additional things:

1) Run a scan with the free verison of MalwareBytes (details below)

2) If MalwareBytes comes back clean, then do a full scan with your NAV software and report those results as well.

For MalwareBytes please proceed as follows:

Please go to www.malwarebytes.org

1. Download Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware (mbam-setup.exe) free version and save it on your Desktop.
2. After downloading, double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
3. Follow the prompts and install as “default” only
4. Before the installation completes, check on the following prompts:
- Update Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware
- Launch Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware
5. Click “Finish.” The program will run automatically and you will be prompt to update the program before doing a scan. Please update.
6. Scan your computer thoroughly choosing a "full scan".
7. When scanning is finished click on “Show Results”
8. Make sure that all detected threats are marked with a check mark, click on "Remove Selected".
9. Restart your computer.

Please post the logs back to this thread using "add attchments"at the bottom.

Note: Sometimes the main site blocks attempts to download MalwareBytes. If this occurs please try to download from:

Thanks

I think that should to it

Hi samuca69,

You are welcome. May I ask what your intention is to deal with this?
