is it normal that the File Insight Server on Symantec are very slow and mostly down. ?
if i download the last hours EXE Programs , File Insight Tab says mostly Unknown and the three Icons are gray out.
if i go to Reputation Scan -> Quick Scan ... Norton says Symantec Server are unavailable look at your Internet Connnection..and Scan aborts .
than i wait 5 hours or so and Symantec File Insight Server are back and working.
i see this since Weeks and Months that the File Insight Server are very slow and mostly down.
i can also check this at the same Time on Testsystems with NIS2011 and NIS2012 beta.. and there also File Insight Server are very slow and mostly down. (Reputation Scan aborts)
This Situation is very annoying. !
this is the Networkdata for Reputation Scan "initialize" and than Scan aborts.

What is wrong with File Insight Server ?
I suspect that the Norton servers are overloaded at certain times and either are very slow or unresponsive at these times.
that's just also my observation over weeks , but Symantec should resolve this Problem in their own interest.
If not , a Virus Download over the Webbrowser is a great Security Risk , no fresh Virus can detected as "WS.Reputation.1" detection if the File Insight Server are down. !
I have been getting this for the last week. Either reputation scans fail to start (as server is not available) or they abort part way through - sometimes even crashing the symantec security framework sometimes. The last day it has worked fine however...

Welcome,
Do you do your updates/maintenance routines about the same time each day/evening? Without getting into personal information remember the time differences between you and the Norton servers. Their rush hour may be your nap time
The other factor in some of the problems is the Internet itself. More of us are using it. We're doing more on it and the stuff we do is creating more traffic.
I know that there are no solid answeers here but I'm not positive that there are real 'solid' answers for some of the problems.
Sorry I can't be of more help
