File shredding fiasco

OK, after several days and multiple chats with various support personnel I found out the following.  Norton 360 cannot shred files.  N-360 can shred files.  N-360 deletes files completely, but cannot shred.  Shred was added shred to tuneup, same as Utilities.  Neither can actually shred files.  It can but documentation cannot be shared with consumer.  Several hours of chatting, lengthy escalations to "experts" with limited knowledge of either product (maybe communication skills?), and I still know no details about ANY Norton solution that shreds files, and if they do perform this double secret function, what files are impacted, what the shred protocal is, etc.  Nothing.  All I know for sure is that McAfee does this and Norton may or may not, but it is a well kept secret that not even Norton support knows.  Double secret.  Reminds me of Animal House.  Tomorrow a supervisor is supposed to call me with the secret details about shredding.  I'm up for one more attempt to get this information before chucking Symantec out the door.  Oh, and finally, the support guy told me that maybe the community can help me because (while the official support team cannot).  Anybody want to try?    Thanks.

I replied to your other thread.

It's best to not start multiple threads about the same problem.

Thanks.

Thanks a bunch.  The "senior" technology guy today told me that N-360 and N-Utilities have the same function in this regard, but could not tell me what the function specifically was.  He said both could shred but he was not able to share their documentation about it (so a product has a feature but they aren't allowed to tell customers about it?).  I was a bit dumbfounded (I'm usually just found dumb).  I'll be checking your those links provided tomorrow early and hopefully be able to create another meaningful question or 2 for the supervisor who will be calling (maybe).  You were so kind to provide this feedback and I really appreciate it.

Update!  Case closed.  After supervisor failed to call as promised got a phone number of US support and called that number.  Lady who took call has no problem understanding my questions and provided solution = cancel N-360 and replace with Norton internet Security and Norton Utilities.  Both products were discounted to actually yield a slight savings as well.  Note to self for future, stick with US support for anything even slightly complicated that basic agent script cannot interpret.  Thanks to user community and today most excellent agent.

Hi panhead

Would it be possible that you could post on the link below the telephone number of the US support that you contacted, as wagygirl would find it useful.
