Krusty13:Hi @huwyngr,
Stay safe!
I have no other plans! <g>
It's my wife Dottie who is in actual lockdown in her Long Term Care Home but they are very good and phone me every few days with news of her or to let her talk wih me if she wants to. And personally I only have to go out to get food; just had a phone visit with my VA POrimary Care Doctor.
Hi @huwyngr,
Stay safe!
JJ_:Hi Krusty 13,
Yeah, I already fixed the Address Bar. Was just surprised it added the new task and did not honored my previous setting and was trying to send background telemetry even though I had all options under Firefox Data Collection and Use previously unchecked. I've disabled the task for now but, still pondering on deleting the new Mozilla folder it created in the Task Scheduler.
Hi JJ,
I had the telemetry settings disabled but still found the scheduled task too. I deleted the task but I wonder whether it will return with each new update.
I think Mozilla may be doing that with Thunderbird (they are often blamed for this unknown change I believe) since my updated Thunderbird a ffeww days ago suddenly changed its display so that no message content was shown when it used to be that the highlighted message in the list in Inbox was displayed under the message list.
F8 toggles this but puts the message content in a pane alongside the message list and so it's a partial content visible and I can't find any settings controls to move this ....
PS I tried all TBird suggest remedies for display problems like reairing folders and reinstalling and even brought in the 64bit version since I am running W10 64 bit and it is fully updated now. I did have the April W10 update on Hold but released and installed it in case I'd run into a Microsoft problem but still no return to the old display.
Oh well I'm in lockdown so .....

I see @bjm_ already posted a link with instructions for restoring the address bar.
How to restore the old Firefox address bar
- Load about:config in the browser's address bar.
- Confirm that you will be careful.
- Search for the following preferences and set them all to FALSE
- browser.urlbar.openViewOnFocus
- browser.urlbar.update1
- browser.urlbar.update1.interventions
- browser.urlbar.update1.searchTips
- browser.urlbar.update1.view.stripHttps
- Restart the Firefox web browser.
Just updated Firefox from Ver 74.0.1 to 75.0. and found it did created the new task even though all options under Firefox Data Collection and Use were previously unchecked. I've currently disabled the new task but, couldn't one just delete the new Mozilla folder rather than just disabling the task or would deleting it possibly cause an issue? Also added the new New Redesigned Address bar.

Mozilla installs Scheduled Telemetry Task on Windows with Firefox 75

lmacri:If the user had previously disabled data telemetry at Tools | Options | Privacy & Security | Firefox Data Collection and Use | Allow Firefox to Send Technical and Interaction Data to Mozilla my understanding is that this setting would still be honored and this background telemetry will not be collected sent every 24 hours. That might also explain why the task hasn't been created in your Task Scheduler yet.
Okay....my bad for forgetting. Thanks

Hi bjm:
According to the 12-Mar-2020 Mozilla blog Understanding Default Browser Trends:
With Firefox 75, we’re launching a new scheduled task for Windows that will help us understand changes in default browser settings. ...Here’s a breakdown of the data we’re looking at, and the steps we’ve taken to ensure your privacy:
- We’re collecting information related to the system’s current and previous default browser setting, as well as the operating system locale and version. This data cannot be associated with regular profile based telemetry data. If you’re interested in the schema, you can find it here.
- The information we collect is sent as a background telemetry ping every 24 hours.
- We’ll respect user configured telemetry opt-out settings by looking at the most recently used Firefox profile.
- We’ll respect custom Enterprise telemetry related policy settings if they exist. We’ll also respect policy to specifically disable this task.
If the user had previously disabled data telemetry at Tools | Options | Privacy & Security | Firefox Data Collection and Use | Allow Firefox to Send Technical and Interaction Data to Mozilla my understanding is that this setting would still be honoured and this background telemetry will not be collected every 24 hours. That might also explain why the task hasn't been created in your Task Scheduler yet.
I use the latest Firefox ESR v68.7.0 (released 07-Apr-2020) and don't have default-browser-agent.exe in my installation folder so I'm guessing I won't see this "feature update" until I'm switched from FF ESR v68.x to FF ESR v78.x some time in June or July.
----------------
64-bit Win 10 Pro v1909 build 18363.720 * Firefox ESR v68.7.0 * Windows Defender v4.18.2003.8
I upgraded to 75.0 64 bit yesterday and I don't have any of the changes referred to, so far as I can see. Address setup looks the same and doesn't do any of the things referred to here or in references!
Hmm....box was not checked -
and do not find Mozilla Folder per Bleeping

Firefox now tells Mozilla what your default browser is every day
Firefox 75 comes with a new telemetry agent that sends information about your operating system and your default browser to Firefox every day. This guide will walk you through disabling this "feature" to protect your privacy.
