Firefox - hotmail - Insecure connection?

Hi, I don't usually post question that often on Norton community so I hope I posted this on right section.

I have been using outlook's e-mail service for years, accessed by opening hotmail (dot) com.

however, last night I found myself unable to accesss hotmail (dot) com using firefox.

when I tried to open hotmail (dot) com, firefox instead show me page that tell me that the connection is not secure saying "The owner of hotmail.com has configured their website improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this website."

I have been trying to find the reason why I suddenly unable to access my mail from hotmail (dot) com page with no success. There seemed to be quite a large amount of similar cases with no clear solution.

I can open hotmail (dot) com from other browser (chrome) and from mobile phone with no problem, and I can still access hotmail login page from mail (dot) live (dot) com with firefox (but I haven't tried logging in)  but whenever I tried to open hotmail (dot) com I am stuck with connection insecure page.

Anyone experienced similar problem recently? I just a bit concerned as I read somewhere that this might've been caused by malware.

I tried scanning my laptop with Norton security (full system) and malwarebyte (threat scan) but all I found were only tracking cookies, while NPE only suspect old files that I'm sure are safe.

I have been using a VPN service, however this problem persist even when I am not connected to vpn so I doubt that's the reason.

I've also made sure my system clock is on the right time.

anyone knows what could've possibly caused this?

Thank you
