When I used Firefox browser for the first time I looked in the program rules of Norton 360 firewall and saw that both firefox.exe and plug-in container.exe were set to Auto. First of all, what is the difference between Auto and Allow settings? Should I leave these settings as they are or change them to Allow? I don't have any problem with Firefox logging on to most websites except my webmail program, which displays quite incorrectly in Firefox: colors, images, email boxes are missing, only text and blank boxes and lines show up on the screen; I checked all media, permission and security settings in Firefox (I have version 29.0 installed), there is nothing to prevent the webmail program application window from displaying so incomplete. Could Norton 360 firewall, especially the settings above be responsible for the odd behavior of the webmail application interface?
I would very much appreciate any comments, advice to resolve my issue.
Hi ekarabekir,
When the Norton Smart Firewall is set to Automatic Program Control (the default setting), Norton will assign access privileges based on the Norton Trust Level of a program. Fully trusted programs will be set to "Allow," while other programs will be set to "Auto." You can change any of the access privileges manually, but there is no reason to do so and you won't notice any performance or other difference between "Allow" and "Auto." What webmail site are you using? Firefox does not usually have the sorts of compatibility issues that you describe.
Hi,
Thank you so much for replying promptly. I live in Turkey, use a webmail program by Vodafone; this program is based on a webmail program offered by www.mynet.com. I wish I could send you the view of the webpage after signing in; unfortunately JPG attachments were not accepted as not being one the valid extensions.
