Firefox slow and glitchy with Norton

I just installed Norton internet security about a week ago, and I've noticed Firefox 22 has gradually slowed down a bit and video playback has stutters every 10 seconds or so.  When I disable the firewall and antivirus auto-protect, as well as disable vulnerability protection and the Norton toolbar, the slowness and stutters disappear.  Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?  Thanks very much for any help.  This is a shame, because overall, Norton has the least overall impact on my system of any antimalware I've used, just not with web browsing using Firefox.

Hi Drew99GT

What security software did you have on the system before Norton?

Have you cleared Firefox's cache lately?

Clearing out the cache doesn't help.

Previous products used are Avast and Avira free antivirus.  I used both companies tools to try and compltely uninstall them.

The problem is from Norton, as disabling it makes the problem go away.  It is similar to this thread:

Hi Drew99GT

When you run the removal tools did you run one removal tool then restart the computer then run the next removal tool and restart the computer?

On the link you posted it suggests that disabling Norton safe web has some effect, have you tried this?

From your earlier post, you disabled many Norton features. Have you tried enabling one feature at a time to determine if it is just one feature causing the issue?

Hello,

I finally had to uninstall FireFox due to it dragging my speed down and I do use Norton Internet Security. After uninstalling FireFox I found that IE 10 runs much better. Opera smokes !!
