Firefox Update 14.0.1

Hello all,

I just checked Help > About and the new version of Firefox was available for download.  (The Norton Toolbar works for me).

The strange thing is though when checking the 'About' tab is says -

Funnel Cake July 2012

Mozilla 12-1.0

Anyone else notice this?

Dave.

Hi Dave,

I just have the 'regular' 14.0.1 version.

But it appears you are not alone with Funnelcake.

:smileysurprised:

Thanks Phil,

I had found that thread and was surprised it was the only relevant one.

Here is a pretty pic'.

Out of curiosity I uninstalled FF and installed a fresh copy and now I have Mozilla14 - 1.0.

Dave,

I have FF 14.0.1 and it claims to be up to date :smileysad: no funnelcakes or other sweets :smileylol:

Thanks Dick,

The only thing I would have that's different is that my copy is en - GB,  not en - US,  so maybe that's it?  In any case,  it works as normal so I will not worry.

Dave.

Looks like we're being separated by that common language again

I think it is because Dave is below the Equator, we are above it and their seasons are reversed from ours!

Dick talks about being separated by a common language - I have a friend who is from Scotland and lives in Australia now - he must really be confused.

Bruce,

I talk with a Scotsman at church most every week. He's not confused, just frustrated that I can't understand English - which he claims to speak.

It's fun and we laugh a lot

PS: he's also about ten years older than I and that adds to the fun as well

Dick,

Toss in the word "outwith" (as I did the other day to see if anyone reacted) -- like "That's outwith my competence" <g>

My first Boss was a Scots Accountant from Dundee and he used it frequently .... as he also called secretaries "clerks" ....

An update from Phil's posted link:  -

"Recently, we conducted a series of tests to see if it was easier to download the Firefox installer from a CDN or from one of the members of our mirror network. In order to do the comparison, we set the channel name of the installer offered by the mirrors to release-cck-mozilla11 and the installer offered by the CDNs to release-cck-mozilla12. There is no difference in the code or operation between the two installers or applications, and there is no new data being sent in.

The second phase of the test was testing the upgrade to Firefox 14.0.1, and it uses the channel names release-cck-mozilla13 and release-cck-mozilla14.

The only thing that the "funnelcake" does is allow us to measure how many of the downloaded installers hit the first run page and subsequently check for updates. There is no personalization or user data involved."

I think this solves my question. :smileysurprised:

Thanks,

Dave
