Firewall blocking access to secure page

I installed Norton 360 on Monday (September 30) and since then I am unable to access a secure e-transfer from my bank.  I have tried turning off Norton's firewall but it still won't let me access it and I am unable to change or do anything with my Windows firewall because it states it is controlled by Norton 360.  Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you

Thanks for the suggestion.....unfortunately it did not work.  I have tried everything I can think of, along with your suggestion.  I think my only option is to uninstall Norton 360 but that makes me nervous.  Do you have any other ideas?

Hi,

Make sure that Cookies are enabled in your browser and if you use Norton vault to access the page, try to do it manually, not with the vault.

Does it help??

I'm still working on other possible workarounds.

Hi again,

Some other tips:

a) Right click on the N360 systray icon and click disable Smart Firewall for a period of time you wish in order to visit your e-banking site.

Check if the issue persists.

b) Open IE no add-ons and see if it works.

c) Verify that IE's Protected Mode is disabled for Trusted Sites

Do not forget, if it works, to re-enable N360 Smart Firewall and it's a good practice to reboot also your pc.

Let me know the results.

Regards,

Thanks again for all your help.  I have disabled Norton's firewall and restarted my computer....neither worked.  I have been unable to do this in both IE and Chrome.  I usually use Chrome but have been trying your suggestions in IE with no success.  I have limited computer knowledge so please bear with me if I am not sure how to do some of your suggestions.  How do I "Open IE no add-ons"?  And how do I "Verify that IE's Protected Mode is disabled for Trusted Sites"?  Thanks again for all your help....it is very much appreciated!

Hi,

Go to start, all programs and under accessories there is an option IE no add-ons.

If you have Vista or higher type in the Search bar IE no add-ons.

Also, go to IE, then Advanced, then Security, then Trusted Sites, and there is a check box indicating Protected Mode. Make sure it's unchecked.

If with N360 Smart Firewall disabled, you cannot access the site then it's probably a browser or a e-bank site issue.

Thanks again.  I have done all you suggested and still nothing.  I did run a check on why it didn't appear to be working and the message I got from windows was:  "etransfer.interac,ca is online but isn't responding to connection attempts.  The remote computer isn't responding to connections on port 443, possibly due to firewall or security policy settings, or because it might be temporarily unavailable.  Windows couldn't find any problems with the firewall on your computer."

I have been trying to do this transfer since yesterday so I doubt it is "temporarily unavailable".  Your thoughts?

The problem is on their end.  Posted on interac.ca:

Service Notice: After initially being restored early this morning, we are seeing some issues with INTERAC e-Transfer again. We are changing the work around solution to facilitate improved ability to use the service, particularly depositing transfers.  Please do not use the https://et.interac.ca url.  We will provide you with a new url and hope to make that available in about 2 hours (posted: 5:30pm ET).

Hi,

As a mentionned earlier:

"  If with N360 Smart Firewall disabled, you cannot access the site then it's probably a browser or a e-bank site issue."

According to SOJ, there were some issues with the bank site and now all appears to be back in order.

Hope the issue is resolved and you can access your e-banking transfer site.
