NIS version 21.6.0.32 with 250 days subscription remaining.
OS Windows Vista SP2 + All current updates
Web browser IE9
Every time Norton NIS firewall rules are Updating IE9 and system Freezes.
Windows reports NIS has stopped responding = Sent Error Report. Many have been sent.
Norton does not report an error although I am unable to open NIS.
This has been occurring for a few months now, I have tried
1 – Running Norton removal and reinstall Tool many times
2 – Fresh OS reinstall
3 – Fresh OS install on new HDD
None of the above solved the issue I’m having with NIS
When the freeze ends always at the top of Norton Tasks is “Firewall Rules Updated”
If I were not carrying out tasks (using the pc) when the freeze happens I would be none the wiser.
Chronology of events;
1 – Boot pc
2 – Norton updates virus definitions (Auto or Manual) with no issues
3 – Norton Firewall rules update = system freeze
4 – if I sit and wait the system eventually becomes responsive again
5 – If I try to open Norton (Force) then windows reports an issue with NIS not responding.
Any guidance on this appreciated maybe some others have experienced this?
