For how long unused activation key is good?

I wonder about Norton 360 licence keys when you buy it from Norton.com online versus when you buy it in some retailer store.

Is there any difference and do they expire?

For example, if I buy Norton 360 Version 5.0 online at Norton.com today - assuming it's not used - will that key be good in 2012 or even in 2013?

Thanks

Not directly related to your question but there is one difference between the KEYs from on line renewal and purchased as part of retail boxed copy -- the Norton online KEY adds it's time to any unexpired time on your installed copy while the "boxed" KEY wipes that unexpired time out .... although we have reports that those nice people at OnLine Chat Customer Support will sometimes add the days back on for you if you ask ....

And of course there is a tremendous difference in price very often if you can catch a retail offer with good rebates -- but only buy from reputable sources since we have reports here from people who bought on line and found the KEY was already used or othewise invalid. Sometimes that does not show up immediately when you activate .....
