I use uTorrent and am trying to speed up my downloads by following a guide I found. The first step in the guide is to make sure the port that uTorrent uses is clear and not blocked. So I tested the port and it came back with an error message. It seems something in Norton Internet Security is blocking the port.
So far, in order to allow the port though Norton’s firewall, I have tried making a new program rule for uTorrent, as well as making a new general rule for the specific port uTorrent uses. This doesn’t seem to work.
Even when I disable Norton’s firewall the port test still says the port is blocked (at least most of the time – sometimes it is successful, but intermittently, which really confuses me).
Someone on the uTorrent forum suggested that Internet Worm Protection in Norton might be blocking the port. He linked me to a guide on how to create a new rule to allow the port through Internet Worm Protection, but the guide is for Norton AntiVirus 2008 and I can’t seem to work out how to do the same thing for Norton Internet Security.
So my question is: how do I get into Internet Worm Protection settings and create a new rule that will allow the port through?
Well I tried uninstalling Norton temporarily and my download speed increased by a lot. So something in Norton is blocking uTorrent from downloading efficiently. Does anyone know how to get around this?
Also, can someone please tell me what it means when it asks me if I want to apply a rule when the packet is from NAT traversal (e.g. Teredo)?
