Whllst browsing through my Norton 360 file (making sure everything was up to date) and just generally having a nosey around, I went into Credentials Manager & found the names of two other users in my vault, although I am the only user on my laptop. One looked clearly suspicious as the user name was a made up odd lettesr & numbers the other was using my name & the name of one of my subsidiary email accounts and gave the web address of my local county council :-/ I have been on the council's discussion forum a couple of times. This really scared me as I don't know what the ramifications would be, I have deleted these users but wonder how on earth this was able to occur in the first place and were they privvy to everything on my computer? Why didn't Norton prevent this?
A couple of weeks ago, I was unable to connect to the internet, and on browsing through Norton trying to find a solution, I came across the message ' disabled by user', there was the option to reconnect and then everything was ok. I wondered if Norton had detected a hacker and closed down the internet connection completely.
To add to the confusion, a couple of days ago, once again I could not get a connection to the internet and assumed the same thing had happened, but despite trawling Norton I could not find the re connect button. I rang the Norton help line, but I'm sorry to say that I was finding it so difficult to underdstand the accent of the person that I gave up.
I rang my isp's helpline and on this occasion it turned out to be a simple case of unplugging the powerline from the router box and then reconnecting it. phew!
Hi Thanks for your quick response :-) feeling quite relieved by what you say, but can you explain the 'disconnected by user' message I got the fiirst time I couldn't connect to the internet, and if it happens again, where do I find the re connect button? The trouble with trawling through Norton is that one tends to lose the trail. :-(

No, sorry--haven't seen that. Consequently, what I was saying is that I suspect it was a one-time occurrence (you accidentally clicked a button or link somewhere in your Norton that you weren't aware of) and you won't encounter it again. However, the thread is still open, in case anyone else recognizes it or has other thoughts.
