Full Scan Times

How long should a full system scan take? I know it varies computer to computer based on specifications, number of processes, number of files, etc, but what do you get?

-2.67 GHz dual core

-3 GB RAM, I don't know how fast

-400 GB HDD filled with 139 GB spinning at 5400 RPM

-Windows 7 SP1 32-bit

-The computer is about 3 years old

-N360 version 5.0.0.125.

-Average 900k files scanned in 2 hours and 45 minutes.

Ah yes, I forgot about the Norton trusted and skipped files. The scan is not the first full scan, but it has not seemed to have sped up and I checked the scan preferences for standard trust. I have had N360 for 3 years, since it came with the computer as a trial and I stuck with it.

And I forget to mention this, but each full scan returns about 21000 skipped and trusted files.

Just looked at the history of my last full scan

2,126,743 files scanned

1:41:40 hours

our processors are about equal

About 91GB on a 500GB 7200 RPM drive

The speed difference will cause an access time difference which may be at least part of the reason
