What is the exact version of your Norton product? What OS do you have installed on your PC? Do you have System Restore enabled ? Sometimes System Restore causes problems.
NIS 2008.
And I have Windows Vista.
Oh, and I got an e-mail back from Norton Technical Support and they told me that it is probably due to a Corrupted Compressed File and to uncheck the box where it says Scan within Compressed Files. Now my question is, if that is the case (I’m performing a Full System Scan right now so we’ll see if that works), how do I get rid of this Corrupted Compressed File?
So I tried it again, this time following what the Technical Support said about not scanning Compressed Fails., and this time an error occurred around 69,000 scanned files. I really don’t know what to do, it doesn’t want to work.
I guess the best thing to do is to uninstall this version –> download the latest version from the Symantec website –> reinstall NIS
But I still have 388 days remaining on my Subscription. I don’t want to lose that.

You won't loose it if you have the product key that you've previously used to activate NIS. If you have a Norton Acount, it should be stored there. If you can't find your key, I can give you another suggestion.
