Running latest version of NIS 2010 with XP-Pro SP3.
I have NIS set up to run a Full Scan every Monday morning.
This morning, the scan detected Trojan.Gen (client.class) and Quarantined it. The quarantine history shows "Resolved - no action". Threat Detected screen says " This virus has been removed, No further action is needed". This screen also shows 3 options: Restore this file, Remove this file from history, Submit to Symantec (which I did).
More Details button/ File Insight screen says "On the Computer since 5/20/2010" and "Contained in c:\documents & settings\user name\application data\sun\java\deployment\cache\6.0\22\77ab98d6-3f661ebc" then "Deleted".
Questions:
1) If this virus was Quarantined then Deleted, how can there be an option to restore the file?
2) As stated, I run a Full Scan every Monday. Why was this first detected today if it has been on the computer since 5/20/10?
Biggest question/Concern is after reviewing all this, I wanted to run another Full Scan to recheck results (Main Screen > Scan Now > Run Full System Scan button.) However a normal Full Scan scans approx 850,000 files, now it only scans 75,528 files before stopping, indicating that it is Finished and that all is OK.
Can someone answer my questions? Thanks
