Full system virus scan vs. Idle full system scan -----Norton system works 12 standard

Hi

Does the idle full system scan ever fix itself without System Works being reinstalled?  Is there a way to check to see what that remote control guy did actually other than get and upload those files to Symantec? Is the failure of the idle full system scan not to run always signify a problem with the time being kept by the computer if the other criteria for it to run have been met?  Is there a way to check with that guy to see if anything he did would have caused the timing of that idle full system scan to have changed? I know I can do manual scans, but when that idle scan doesn't work, that means something is wrong with the program or my computer. Can he not chat with me in the forum instead of by phone?

As far as the recycle bin problem goes, my computer rebooted fine yesterday and the recycle bin worked as it should after rebooting. I was hoping that they had found the solution to the problem after being inside my computer like 4 times at least over the last 2 weeks. But today's reboot produced the same results with the recycle bin not working correctly until I enabled the service myself again.

Hi

Could you please tell me what target PID stands for in the Recent History of the security part of the Antivirus section means? Doesn't it mean that each process has like a separate PID number? Like NPROTECT.EXE should have only 1 PID number? I have noticed today that NPROTECT.EXE has like 3 different PID numbers when I look at that log. Is that unusual? I just did a search for that file and I find it in 2 locations. The second location is in startup and that was recently put there by the remote control guy to try and get the service to really run when it says it is running after bootup. Then it is also where it should be I believe, so possibly I could understand it having maybe 2 PID numbers although it is supposed to be all one process I think. I realy don't understand these things. I'm wondering though if perhaps there being 3 different pid numbers that I see in that log if that is the cause of the problem of it not starting correctly. I know when my son uninstalled the program, everything appeared to be cleared out. Is it possible that I have like 2 NPROTECT.EXE's running at the same time and only one of them is actually getting started? Does this make any sense to you guys in the forum?

Hi

It is now Sat. morning and no idle full system scan has run since June 9th. Today is June 20th. It looks like the scan schedule wasn't changed by the tech support. It's just not running again. The recycle bin problem is sporadic also. One day it reboots and starts up like it should work and the next day, back to the same problem again, then the next day it might work again. It's all very odd to me. I think the problem is odd for the tech support guys that have been calling me up and coming into my computer also.

Holy Batman! ! ! !  My last idle full system scan ran on June 9th and finished around 5:30 AM I think it was. June 16th came and went, no idle full system scan ran… I was all ready to get my son to come here and uninstall and reinstall System Works 12 yet again since it was like 2 weeks now since it ran… Low and behold, the darn scan started around 10 PM on June 23rd. I was kind of busy then so it started and stopped as I was doing stuff as it should. It finally got done around 1:30 AM June 24th. It just seems so unusual for it to skip like 2 weeks and then start up again. I still wonder though if the last support person who came into my computer didn’t do something to mess it up and some how messed up the scheduling of it or something. I think it was a Friday night that he came into my computer to gather some logs, but stuff did get messed on my desktop as I have mentioned in a previous post. I figured maybe it would run a week after that guy was in my computer, but it didn’t run then. At least 1 of my problems seems to have been fixed. The scan as usual hasn’t found any thing despite I see that there are some files that are either pending or are being processed before they go to Norton I guess. Now, I’m wondering if perhaps my recycle bin problem has been fixed too.I won’t know until tomorrow afternoon most likely when I reboot my computer.
