Getting repeat VPN notifications on Samsung S24 phone

After I leave a location that has an unsecure WiFi I keep getting “Auto VPN has turned off VPN”. I just one evening I got this notfication 6 times. I dismissed every one. I do not have repeat notifications turned on for Norton 360. This was so annoying I shut off ALL notifications for the App. If there is a way to limit this to ONE instance per event, can someone let me know?
Thanks…

Have you tried restarting the device? That would clear the app cache for 360 and might stop these excessive notifications.

Yes, I have restarted the phone many times (for other reasons). The excessive occurrences did not stop… thanks for the suggestion!

Next suggestion is to reinstall 360. Uninstall the app, restart the device, and then reinstall and test.

Sorry for the delay, I uninstalled and reinstalled N360, but this did not fix the problem. I also visited the location where the issues appear yesterday. Per my S24, in the last 24 hours there were 108(!) notifications by N360.

The Wi-Fi scans make sense - although I would very much like to suppress ones that merely state “success” and show only real issues.

The constant display of Auto VPN has turned off VPN and Auto VPN has turned on VPN is exremely annoying. I was at home for most of the day with a secure Wi-Fi (no VPN needed),
then I visited a place, between 4 and 8 pm approximately, where the Wi-Fi is not secure.

I have set my Galaxy S24 to turn Wi-Fi off when there is no Wi-Fi available - possibly this might be the cause of some of the messages (I will test), but certainly not at home where I keep getting many unnecessary ‘Auto VPN has turned off’ notices.

I’ve listed relevant info below. If there are any suggestions to limit notices to one each per ‘unsecure’, turn VPN on, and turn VPN off event, please let me know… Thanks, Rich

The only control you have over notifications is on or off. No way to pick and choose which notifications you want to see.

Does this only happen at the one location, or all locations outside your home? Have you tried using the VPN at home to see if you still see the same issue?

If only at the one location, there may be an issue with the wifi signal strength at that location causing the VPN connection to drop and re establish.

If it also happens at all locations outside your home, you can send logs to Norton to help diagnose the issue. To gather and send Norton 360 Android error logs…

Open the 360 app and tap the three bars at the top left. Tap on Settings > General, and scroll down to the Logging section. Turn on Enable Debug Log. Then continue using your device until your issue happens again. After the issue has happened, go back to the Debug Log settings and then tap on Send Error Report with log files. In your submission please include "forum ‘your username’ " in the Case ID section of the report. Also include a link to this thread. You can turn off logging when you have sent the logs.

If you do send logs, please let me know and I’ll notify my contacts to look for them.

Great idea - I’ll turn on debug log before the next time I go to the same location. Other locations all have secured wifi… Thx

Quick question - I turned debugging on to get a baseline for log contents during a ‘normal’ period. Can you tell me where to find it on my phone. Even with a USB data cable I can’t find it.
Thanks…

I have sent the log files per your suggestion. Issue started shortly after arrival at the location at ~4 pm EST Sep 23. I departed ~8 pm for home, but continue to get repeated notificatons “Auto VPN has turned off VPN” every 30 min beginning at 7:65 PM EST. I am still getting them now. Thanks for your assistance.

Thanks for the logs. I’ve notified my contacts. I’ll let you know what I hear.

Hi spindizzy,

I’m following up on this issue ( I know it has been 7 months, my apologies). We had a number of releases in the meantime, so I wanted to check if you are still having the same issue.

Thank you.

I shut off notifications from Norton on my phone as a workaround. I can still tell if VPN is turned on from a key icon that appears on my Samsung S24. Thank you for following up!
