Ghost 10.0 -- after ghosting Windows 2000 to a new drive, Windows cannot find or use the Paging File
I have a fully patched Windows 2000 SP2 system running on a disk drive with an intermittent power connection. I ghosted it to a
new drive (20 GB IDE drive to a 40 GB IDE drive) and this completed with no errors. Upon reboot with the new drive, after successful
login, I get a window that says;
Limited Virtual Memory
1. Right-click My Computer ...
2. Click on the Performance Options ...
3. ...
Click Set, then click OK
When you click OK, your only option, it puts you back to the Login window. There is no way to get the Desktop to come up so you
can go to My Computer, as suggested by the above window. If I boot the original drive, I can see a 1 GB "pagefile.sys" on both drives.
I can even recreate the "pagefile.sys" on the new drive, from the original drive, but this does not help.
This is probably some Registry setting on the new drive, but I don't know how to change it from the either drive. Booting "Safe Mode"
does not help -- same thing. I did all this as "administrator".
Thanks,
Scott
