The problem might be a compatibility issue between Norton Ghost 10 and Windows XP sp3. Was this working with XP sp2? Are you able to try the latest version, Norton Ghost 14?
You are probably right. Since then, I've had an innards transplant (mb, cpu, mem, etc) and reinstalled XP leaving off SP3. The restore for that directory, while still slow, worked in under a day this time. The entire process of restoring was quicker by keeping my system at SP2. Is there a known problem with SP3, if so, is there a fix? (one question becomes 20 as you go along, eh?)
Is there a file number limit, or directory size limit? As long as it (Ghost) works I don't see the need to upgrade, especially as this version is fairly straight-forward and uncluttered. Sorry about that. Although it leaves me in the silly position of not being able to upgrade so years later I'm using the older version, but then, and again, it works even if slowly.
I apologize; Norton Ghost 10 will not be updated to account for issues with Windows XP sp3. I don’t remember if there was a file limit for Norton Ghost 10, and I’m sure as you increase the size of the images, there will be delay. Have you considered using Norton Ghost 14? That might be a solution when you need to upgrade to XP sp3. Thanks!
